Beijing-born Guo Chang Suo has a love for music since young.

He started learning sheng from Wu Xin Shui at the age of nine, and with excellent results, he gained entry into the affiliated secondary school of the Central Conservatory of Music and studied under the tutelage of Lin Fu Gui.

He was later transferred to the affiliated secondary school of the China Conservatory of Music in 1981.

Guo entered the Chinese Music Department of China Conservatory of Music the following year and studied under Professor Zhang Zhi Liang.

Chang Suo joined the China Central Chinese Orchestra as a sheng performer in 1986. In 1997, he scored the highest mark in the woodwind and percussion category in the arts examination conducted by the China Cultural Department and joined SCO soon after.

Updates!

Finally I have got back the password. But here I am, updating on the happenings here. Boon Lay Community Center is not undergoing a renovation which will take up around a year or so. Meanwhile, practice are still ongoing at another place. Right now, we are now unpacking our instruments and scores, and will take us some time before we resume proper practices. The new address will be publish soon, along with the buses that you can reach that place by. So hopefully, we'll start to see new members.

Also, for our future performances, we will try to take pictures and upload here. Up next, we will have our conductor's biography in the next post (:

INTRODUCTION.

This blog is opened in the name of Boon Lay Community Club Chinese Orchestra. The purpose of this blog is to promote BLCC-CO. We play for music. We don't play music here because it is BLCC-CO, but because under here, we have something in common, this is our second home, where we share at least one thing in common, the passion for MUSIC, the desire to PLAY GREAT MUSIC. Members of BLCC-CO range from age, gender, occupation and background, under here, we have turned into FRIENDS.

We take part in performances, and usually have a big important performance at the end of the year, where we performed at places like Esplanade, Singapore Conference Hall. We have joint performances with schools. In year 2007, we have a joint performance at the Esplanade with Boon Lay Secondary School, and with a local singer, Joi Chua, to sing along as we played. It was an enriching experience. More oppurtunities will be coming.

We have weekly practice at Boon Lay CC on Sunday, where details are as followed. Your participation are most appreciated by BLCC-CO, and new members to our CO are much welcomed. We strongly encourage the increasing number in consistent members who share the same passion for music, and the desire to play great music as a whole.
